World Finals Update The PMRA World Finals race is always filled with excitement, tension and great racing. While Top Gas, Super Street 9.50, Super Gas and Pro ET were essentially locked up prior to the race start, other classes were determined round by round. Jon Haney captured an unprecedented double championship in Super Gas and Pro ET and also received the coveted Racer of Year Award. Kirk Reeves dominated in Top Gas as well as Ray Tonto Johnson Jr in Super Street 9.50. We saw shake ups in Pro Open as Mark Wagner edged by Rod Mansaw to take the championship. Super Comp also added drama as Phil Matthews overtook points leader Dwayne Gains to finish the season as class champion. Wesley Goans in Street ET came into the race with a 50 point advantage and strengthened his lead by winning the race. Congratulations to all of our top contenders! Special awards are given each year and are voted upon by all the racers. The recipients were: Racer of the Year: Jon "Hog Hatin' Honda Huggin' Waffle Eatin" Haney Mechanic of the Year: Randy Hughes Dlorah Lee/Dave Howell Memorial Award: Larry Anderson. |
