WOW! What a spectacular turnout for the second race of the season.
We had a total of 122 bikes at this event at Thunder Valley Raceway
Park!! Almost a record. The weather was just as spectacular!!
We encourage all the regular racers to invite friends, local racers
and street riders to come out and join the PMRA family. Let’s see if we
can keep our attendance going as strong as it started in 2006!
The new web site is going strong and being updated frequently. The
Racer Of The Week will be changed on Wednesdays. Be sure to complete
the questionnaire located on the home page and email it to Dawn so you
can be included. She will update them on a first-come first-serve
basis. Get them in soon so you can be profiled!
Points updates will be posted as soon as they can. We
know you like to see them right away, but we need time to verify them. You wouldn’t want there to be an error in your
points calculations! We know how important this information is to
everyone. As soon as we are confident they are correct, the points will
be posted.
Pictures from the second race are available on Dawn’s web
site:
www.dragginshots.com. Unfortunately, Dawn didn't get many
pictures at the race. She was spending a majority of her time in the pits
getting to know the racers and taking pictures for the profile section.
She also spend time taking photos of a specific racer for his upcoming
sponsor event. (Remember, if you have a special request, contact
her at dawn@dragginshots.com.
More Photos will be taken at the next race so be on the look out for
Dawn!
Do you have a story you're just dying to share? We're looking for
story contributions and information for the newsletter. Our very own Bill Baxter recently
attended a race in Europe and is working on a story of his experiences
for us……should be an interesting story if you know Bill at all!!
You don’t have to travel all over the world to write a story.
Great stories happen here too. Let’s give Dawn a hand!
Congratulations to all the winners and runners up for a job well
done!! Even if you didn’t make it to the winners circle, you are all
winners in our book for coming out and being part of the PMRA family!!
Next race is Saturday, June 17th at Wichita International
Raceway in Wichita, Kansas. See you there!
Good luck to everyone!!
JULY 2006
Where does
the time go? Hard to believe the 2006 race season is more than half over. Even
though there were only 80 bikes at the July 8th race, it was an
eventful day of racing.
We had
three first time winners. Congratulations to Fred Wiser in Super Gas, Rob
Bennett in Pro ET and George “The Goose” Gooch in Pro Street. We look forward
to seeing you in the winners circle again.
There were
also two perfect reaction times. Way to go John Choat in Street ET and Dan
Rollman in Pro ET. That is quite an accomplishment.
Another
exciting thing that happened on July 8, 2006 was that we had a new record set.
In Pro Street, George “The Goose” Gooch set the ET record at 8.011!
Congratulations George. What a day for you, setting a record and winning your
first PMRA race! I bet you’re still smiling!!
Our next
race is scheduled for September 23rd in Noble, Oklahoma at Thunder
Valley Raceway Park. Let’s spread the word around so we can get some more bikes
at the next race. We all know that once you come to a PMRA race you are usually
hooked. There is no better place to be than a PMRA race!
I know 11
weeks seems like a long, long time for the next PMRA race, but I hope everyone
gets a chance to relax a little during this break and fix anything that needs to
be fixed. That way everyone will be refreshed and ready to roll in September.
Once again,
Congratulations to all the winners and runner ups! See everyone in September.
September 2006
The
September 23rd was another record breaking day of racing at Thunder
Valley Raceway Park for The PMRA. First we had a record number of bike
participate. The old record was 125 and we had 136 bikes! That’s just
amazing. Keep spreading the word about our awesome association and handing out
those flyers so we can continue to see our attendance grow.
Mr. George
“The Goose” Gooch was on another roll this month. Not only did the break the
speed record for the Pro Street class, he also broke the ET record for the
class; which he just set at the last PMRA event in July! The new records are
7.593 seconds and 191.89 mph. Way to go George. Wonder what he’s going to do
in October?!?

I’d like to
thank everyone that participated in the 50/50 raffle we had.
We raised $202 towards the printing of an end of year newsletter for all the
members.
The winner of the raffle was Kevin Krott. He received $203 plus a Draggin Shots
Photography t-shirt. We are going to have another raffle at the October 21st
race.
Make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to win. Congratulations Kevin!!
Mitch has
also decided to include a 9.50 index class at the finals in October. It will be
a heads up race with a 400 pro tree. Only street tire bikes are allowed to
participate. The entry fee is $25. All entry fees along with $200 from Mitch
and $100 from Ken Emmons of Ken’s Body & Paint will be paid out. 60% going to
the winner and 40% going to the runner up. This is not a permanent class. It
is being done on a trial basis. Let’s get as many bikes in as we can and maybe
it will become a permanent class with the PMRA?!?
Don’t
forget, at the finals we will be voting on the special awards, Mechanic of the
Year, Racer of the Year and the Dave Howell/Dlorah Lee Memorial Award. Be
thinking about who you want to vote for.
See everyone
in October!!
