SPECIAL STORIES

On May 20, 2006, members of The Baxter-Bird Racing Team made a special appearance for one of their sponsors, Star City Motorsports.  It was their 3rd annual customer appreciation open house.  They had a display set up with pictures, trophies and awards they have received over the years.  Of course, the new Kawasaki ZX-14 was with them!

Throughout the weekend, they talked with several hundred people about the bike, drag racing and the PMRA!  They  handed out souvenir trading cards to the kids.  That was a big hit.  Even the clowns got involved with the team! (Notice the hair color of the clown!)  The event was a huge success for Star City Motorsports and The Baxter-Bird Racing Team!

It is important to remember to stay in contact with your sponsors after you get them.  Make sure they know you appreciate them and keep them informed of your accomplishments.  They want to make sure their sponsorship investment is paying off for them.  If you show them what your made of and that you are willing to help them as much as they help you, you'll be able to better retain your sponsors and get more.  Another good idea is to stay in touch with potential sponsors.  Just because you get turned down on the first attempt , don't let that stop you.  If you stay in contact with them, they will see that you are a serious individual.  When their advertising/sponsorship budget allows, who do you want them to think of first, some new guy that just approached them, or you?!  One thing that I have learned in the past few months of contacting potential sponsors is that it is a long slow process.  Try not to get too frustrated.  It takes time to build relationships with sponsors.
